What this policy covers
This policy covers rmgsupplies.com, including its Spanish and French pages, and the email correspondence that starts from it. It does not cover other companies' sites that we link to, such as LinkedIn.
What we collect
When you write to us, we receive what you choose to send, which usually means your name, your company, your email address, sometimes a phone number, and the contents of your message. Our hosting provider, Amazon Web Services, keeps standard server logs that record the IP address, the pages requested, the browser type, and the date and time of each request, and we use those logs only to keep the site secure and running. If you pick a language, the site stores that choice in your browser so it opens in that language next time, and nothing about that choice is sent to us. We do not collect payment information on this site, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. The site is written for businesses and is not directed to children.
What we do not do
We use no analytics service, no advertising cookies, and no third party tracking of any kind. No third party collects information about your activity on this site or across other sites through it. We do not sell personal information, we do not rent it, and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing. Because we do not track visitors, a Do Not Track signal from your browser changes nothing, since every visitor is already treated the same way.
Why we use it
We use what you send us to reply, to evaluate and carry out a business relationship with you or your company, to keep the site secure, and to meet legal obligations such as customs, tax, and product safety records. Where the law asks us to name a legal basis, we rely on the steps needed before and during a contract, on our legitimate interest in running a secure site and answering the people who write to us, and on our legal obligations. We send email to reply to you, to carry out business with you, or when you have asked for it. Any marketing email we ever send will say who it is from and include a simple way to opt out.
Who sees it
People at RMG who need it to respond to you. The providers that process data for us, which today are Amazon Web Services for hosting and Google for email, each under its own contractual obligations to protect the data. Public authorities when the law requires it, such as customs authorities on an import. No one else.
Where it is processed
Our systems and providers are in the United States, so if you write to us from another country your information is transferred to and stored in the United States. We transfer it because the transfer is needed to respond to you and to take the steps you ask for before and during a contract, and we protect it as described below.
How long we keep it
We keep correspondence for as long as we work together and for the period the law requires us to keep business records afterward, which can be up to seven years for customs and tax purposes, and then we delete it. Server logs are kept for a limited time and then discarded.
How we protect it
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, including encrypted connections to this site, accounts protected by strong authentication, and access limited to the people who need it. If a breach ever affects your information, we will notify you and the authorities as the law requires.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, to receive a copy of it, to withdraw consent you have given, and to complain to your data protection authority. This includes rights under the laws of the European Union and the United Kingdom, Canada and Quebec, Mexico, and the United States states that grant them. We honor these requests for everyone, wherever you live. To exercise any of them, write to legal@rmgsupplies.com from the address we have on file, or tell us how to verify that the request is yours. We answer within 20 business days and we never charge for a first request. We make no decisions about you by automated means.
Changes
If this policy changes, we post the new version here with a new effective date. For a material change we note it at the top of this page for 30 days.
